Even though we have enough technology to make just about everything 3D, artists still like going back to the basics in black and white music videos. Today we’re counting down our favourite black and white music videos released in 2011. From divas Adele and Beyonce, to rappers Tyler The Creator and Fabolous, black and white videos were reppin’ 2011 like it was 1911 (cuz, y’know, things were black and white then).
Check out our list below!
10. Fabolous, You Be Killin Em
Wiz Khalifa’s main lady Amber Rose stars in Fabolous’ catchiest joint in years. I love you Kanye, but you let her go? That ish cray.
9. City and Colour, Weightless
It’s a bit ironic that a group named City and Colour made a colour-less video. The song is called Weightless, but as usual, Dallas Green makes everything look effortless.
8. Justin Bieber feat. Boyz II Men, Fa La La
I wish it was Christmas 365 days a year.
7. Natalia Kills, Free (Alternate Version)
As if her first version wasn’t already chic and vogue, Natalia Kills went and made another killer video. I don’t believe Natalia is ever free. Gurl is werkin’!
6. Jason DeRulo, It Girl
It doesn’t get much smoother than Jason Derulo, from his voice to his moves and now to his Chuck Bass-like suits. Seems fitting since the leading lady in his video is Gossip Girl’s Tika Sumpter.
5. Candy Coated Killahz, Light Up This City
Okay, so we may have cheated and used a video with colour. But it just looks soooooo cool!
Kay, My Name Is Kay
There is only one singer who could rock a track suit in church and her name is Kay-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh. Preach.
3. Tyler the Creator, Yonkers
While both the artist and the insects creep me out, this video became a viral hit earlier this year, earning Tyler The Creator his first MTV win.
2. Beyonce, Dance For You
While it’s impossible to not love Beyonce, I do wish she’d set the bar a bit lower for the rest of us.
1. Adele, Someone Like You
When you have a voice like Adele you don’t need a flashy video to keep people watching. Ugh. It’s just so damn pretty.
