Taylor Swift may be the queen of the pop charts, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten her country roots. When country superstar Tim McGraw began looking for a female vocalist to sing the hook in his new track Highway Don’t Care, only one name came to mind – Taylor Swift.
Seven years after releasing her self-titled debut album, which feature the song Tim McGraw, Swift has now teamed up with one of her favourite musicians to record the heartfelt love song. Joined by Keith Urban on the guitar, the Highway Don’t Care packs huge star power with the three artists and is sure to rule both the country and pop stations.
Labelmates McGraw and Swift appear separately in the video, with Swift performing her parts in a sunlit room with a make-up free look to match her flowing peach dress. McGraw performs his verses on a deserted road, while scenes from the video’s story line cut in-between. The video’s main focus is on a woman who gets into a car accident, showing the perils of driving and texting. McGraw’s role in her life is a bit of a surprise when finally revealed at the end of the video.
The trio first performed Highway Don’t Care in April during the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards. The song is McGraw’s third single from his astonishing 12th studio album, Two Lanes of Freedom, which was released earlier this year.

Taylor Swift is only one week into her North American RED Tour and is already up to her old ways…which in this case is awesome. The country/pop singer kept things fresh and exciting for fans during her incredible Speak Now World Tour, which included 111 dates over 2011-2012, by surprising fans with big name artists when performing in their hometown.
During last night’s show in St. Louis, Swift delighted fans by bringing hometown hero Nelly on stage for a duet of Nelly’s new single Hey Porsche together. The two performed together during Taylor’s last tour, which included a rendition of Nelly’s Just A Dream.
In the past, Swift has surprised fans with appearances from Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, T.I., Usher, Selena Gomez, James Taylor, B.o.B. and Hayley Williams from Paramore. Click here for some of Taylor’s best tour duet performances.
Who do you think Taylor will bring on stage when her tour hits Canada this summer?
Ed Sheeran admits that rumours he was dating Taylor Swift made him feel ‘like a stud’. In an interview with New Zealand’s TVNZ, Sheeran confirmed rumours from earlier this year that placed Sheeran leaving Swift’s hotel room in London at 4 am, but assured the reporter that their hang out session was strictly platonic.
“I did go to her hotel, I did stay there ’til four and I did leave in the same clothes – but I was playing her my new record. It was strictly that kind of thing,” Ed explained. “Literally, I went in there and we passed the guitar back and forth and played songs to each other.”
Sheeran also said that he would not date Taylor because of her past relationship with his friend Harry Styles, but admitted that rumours surrounding the two being more than friends weren’t all bad. “The thing that impressed me with the media is that because they wrote about it, my mates believed it,” said Ed. “And my mates are texting me being like ‘is it true?’ so I said it wasn’t but the fact that people can believe it makes me feel like a bit of a stud, you know?”
Sheeran also pointed out that dating someone and touring with them for six months could get awfully uncomfortable if the relationship didn’t outlast the tour. Taylor and Ed kicked off Swift’s Red Tour last night in Omaha, Nebraska, the first of 66 dates in North America.
Taylor Swift debuted her video for 22 today and nailed it this time around. Where her last video for I Knew You Were Trouble failed to give viewers a sense that they were watching an authentic Taylor (I just can’t picture her in a roach motel or a rave), 22 shows Taylor in her element.
Shot in an Instagram-inspired frame, Taylor eats cake, dances in her kitchen, builds a human pyramid at the beach, and throws a PG-rated house party, all while surrounded by friends. It’s fun, it’s energetic and it’s 100 per cent believable. Well, until I recognized actress Jessica Szohr and realized Taylor’s friends were paid actors, but still, pretty much almost 100 per cent believable.
Following in the footsteps of her lead single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, 22 features an upbeat and carefree attitude, with lines like “It feels like the perfect night to dress up like hipsters/ And make fun of our exes”. Swift’s latest single is her fourth from 2012′s Red, which has already seen the top of the charts thanks to We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Begin Again and I Knew You Were Trouble.
Swift’s new video today coincides with the kick off to her North American tour for Red, with Taylor and her opener Ed Sheeran hitting the stage tonight in Omaha. Swift’s first of six tour dates in Canada takes place in Toronto on June 14.

Taylor Swift is set to drop her new video for 22 tomorrow morning and MUCH will have your first look at the singer’s fourth single off her 2012 disc Red. Following in the footsteps of her lead single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, 22 features an upbeat and carefree attitude, with lines like “It feels like the perfect night to dress up like hipsters/ And make fun of our exes”.
Photos of Swift shooting the video have popped online and show the singer having fun while riding around in a shopping cart being pushed by friends through a parking lot. No word yet on whether her squirrel pajamas will make an appearance, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
