Russell Brand has bought his yoga teacher a new car. The Arthur actor and comedian is a huge fan and practitioner of the ancient Indian relaxation techniques, and wanted to express his thanks to “spiritual mentor” Tej Kaur Khalsa with a lavish gift. A source told the Daily Star newspaper “Russell wanted to thank Tej for being his long-term yoga instructor and spiritual mentor. So he decided to buy her a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, which cost him $33,000. He knew she wanted the car and was happy to stump up the cash for it. But Tej wasn’t too pleased initially when she found out, saying he should keep his money or give it to someone who needs it more. She was grateful for the gesture, though.”

Russell, 37, successfully beat heroin addiction ten years ago and is now more interested in going on yoga marathons than alcohol and drug binges. A source said of one recent session “Russell went on solo yoga enlightenment. He turned up alone at his local yoga studio at 2am, let himself in and meditated until 7am.”

The famous lothario, who was married to Katy Perry for 14 months until December last year, has also met a number of girls through his Los Angeles yoga classes, including Jordana Brewster’s sister Isabella and Mexican artist Oriela Medellin. Another source said “His antics are the talk of his yoga class. He was spotted with a girl after his lesson last week too. He had just left the class and was all over her in a nearby café.”

British comedian Russell Brand, who split with singer Katy Perry after just 14 months of marriage last year, thinks that soccer star David Beckham is a “god”, and believes an egg would be perfect to eat off him because it needs to be “mopped up”.

Said Brand, “David Beckham is a god. Just look at him in those underwear ads. I’m not gay but I would eat food off his body. Preferably something that needs to be mopped up, like egg. I’d eat it off his stomach.”
Russell has previously battled with both sex and drug addictions in the past, and he admits he still thinks about both vices on a regular basis.

Speaking while performing at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles on Tuesday, he said: “I think about drugs and sh***ing all the time. If I’m not thinking about drugs, I’m thinking about sh***ing or thinking about taking drugs and then having sex while high. Sometimes I think about the ‘Doctor Who’ theme tune too because I like how it sounds.” I’m not a Doctor Who fan, but I totally get the Beckham-love.
