Shortly after their triumphant return, No Doubt postponed their 2013 tour plans to head back into the studio and now producers Greg Kurstin and Rock Mafia have confirmed that they are indeed currently working with the band on a new album.
“They’re working on some new material,” Kurstin tells Rolling Stone. “We’ve been working and we’re going to work on more next week. That will be fun, I think.”
Kurstin, who has worked with Pink, Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson and most recently Tegan and Sara, is working on a number of projects right now including No Doubt, Lily Allen, and Mikky Ekko.

After spending over ten years out of the studio, No Doubt are already on track to write the follow-up to 2012′s Push and Shove. The band posted a message on their Facebook page late last night, announcing their decision to postpone their previously planned 2013 world tour to instead return to the studio and record new material.
The message explains that lead singer Gwen Stefani was inspired to write new music while the band was on a promotional tour for Push and Shove last year, deciding in January to return to the studio to lay down some new tracks. While Push and Shove took three years to write, the band say that their “new pace feels incredibly exciting.” Hopefully ‘exciting’ also means ‘faster than three years’.
The message goes on to say that No Doubt’s main goal “…as a band is to share this new music with you as quickly as possible – both recorded and live on tour.”
Push and Shove failed to be the comeback album most fans were hoping for, with the disc failing to impress on the charts. Hopefully this new record will better serve as a follow up to 2001′s award-winning Rock Steady.
