Madonna has decided to put her NYC duplex next to Central Park on sale, just months after placing her mansion in Beverly Hills, California, on the market. It is believed Madonna is selling the property after deciding she prefers a triple-wide townhouse on the Upper East Side of the city, which she also owns.
The home for sale features eight bathrooms, a library and a formal dining room over 6,000 square foot of space. Those eager to recreate the scenes she undertook in Evita and sing to the crowds would be able to do so from the Juliet balconies and its 110 foot frontage. The interior of the home is in an Art Deco style and believed to have been created for Madonna by Christopher Ciccone, her brother.
The 54-year-old singer lived in London for many years before deciding to return to her native US after splitting with British film director Guy Ritchie, with whom she raises children Lourdes, 16, Rocco, 12, David, seven and Mercy, six.
Currently on her worldwide MDNA Tour, Madonna suprised fans with South Korean pop sensation Psy as her special guest during her concert at NYC’s Madison Square Garden last night, where they performed a mash-up of Madonna’s Give It To Me and Psy’s cult smash Gangnam Style.
Madonna even performed Psy’s ‘horse’ dance, which has also been copied by stars including Mel B and Heidi Klum, and at one point crawled between his legs.
The event comes just a week after the 54-year-old star was “rejected” by Lady Gaga when she asked her to sing with her on stage. Madonna told a crowd in Minnesota earlier this month “I have the best fans in the whole world. So take that, Lady Gaga. You know, I invited her to sing with me on stage but she turned me down. It’s OK. I’ve been rejected before. It’s good to build character.”
Madonna has previously criticized Lady Gaga for copying her song Express Yourself on Gaga’s hit Born This Way. She said “I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting.”
Madonna’s 15-year-old daughter Lourdes has been working hard in her mother’s wardrobe department while travelling the world for her ‘MDNA’ shows, and hasn’t been spared the unenviable task of handling the laundry. Lourdes wrote on her blog “This summer I was surprisingly productive. So, I thought I would tell you all about the joys of folding underwear. As you probably know this woman I like to call my mother went on tour for her ‘MDNA’ album. As a summer job I decided to work in the wardrobe department. All of my friends were getting summer jobs and I wanted one too. Mine was a little unconventional but still a great experience and a lot of fun. Being in the wardrobe department meant me and a few other girls dressed the dancers during the show when they had quick changes. Thirty seconds to totally dress a sweaty dancer can be insane and provoke mucho anxiety. Doing this night after night was pretty cray, but I loved every minute of it (sic).”
Lourdes, who’s father is personal trainer Carlos Leon, said in her blog that she enjoyed Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Copenhagen in Denmark and Turkey the most, and has taken to life on the road. She added “It’s really a great experience to be able to work on a large production, traveling around like a family, setting up for an amazing show and all having the same purpose. I developed really good relationships with a number of people, not just in wardrobe but in other departments too. Dancers, singers, sound crew, catering, etc. To be able to be a part of such an inspiring production was one of my best summers so far.” I wonder what kind of hourly rate Lourdes was pulling in.
Lourdes’ half brother, Rocco, 12, has also had an active role in the ‘MDNA’ shows, and has been on stage to dance with his mother most nights. Madonna also has two younger children, Mercy James, six, and David Banda, seven, but it is not known whether they were with her throughout the tour.
Madonna has released a new video for her song, Turn Up the Radio. In the clip, the queen of pop cruises around Italy, deals with paparazzi and hoards of fans with cameras, and picks up hitchhikers. In other words, just another day in the life of Madge.
If you pay close attention, you can see Madonna’s current fling, Brahim Zaibat, in the clip. The video was shot in Italy while Madonna was on tour and Turn Up the Radio is off of her latest album, MDNA.
The singer is now being sued by the Front National Party in France for her insulting remarks on leader, Marine Le Pen. At a concert in France on Saturday, Madonna set a video montage to go with her song Nobody Knows Me, featuring the right-wing party leader with a swastika superimposed on her face before cutting away to an image of a man who resembles Adolf Hitler.
