It feels like it’s been forever since Katy Perry released an album – three to be exact since 2010′s Teenage Dream – but the pop star is hard at work on a new album.
In a recent interview, the singer reveals that she’s halfway done the album already and is in the studio with producers including previous collaborators Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Greg Wells and songwriters Sia and Bonnie McKee.
Perry, who scored five number one hits with Teenage Dream, admittedly doesn’t feel any pressure yet regarding new material, adding, “When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that’s when the race starts.”
On long-time working partner McKee, Perry says, “Bonnie and I argue (like) we’re in the ring fighting for the best lyric. We presented ‘Teenage Dream’ three times (before it was recorded).”
A new song title was even announced when discussing her working relationship with McKee.
“She came in from a yoga class and said, ‘I want to write a song called ‘Double Rainbow.”,” Perry says. “So we have a song called ‘Double Rainbow.’”
If you’ve been following the John Mayer and Katy Perry romance drama, then you’ll know that John Mayer recently went on Ellen and spoke loosely on his relationship with Katy but kept it pretty private. However RadarOnline.com reported that John wasn’t exactly too keen that Katy was still on good terms with her ex-husband Russell Brand.
A source told RadarOnline.com, “John and Katy together were like a volcano just about to go off… Their relationship was incredibly volatile, stemming from the jealousy they both harbored deep inside.” The source continued, “Sure, Katy was unhappy that John constantly flirted with other girls and played up his heart breaker image, even when she was standing next to him. But, Katy gave it back. She knew that she could push John’s buttons by comparing his flaws to what she saw was great in Russell, which he hated!”
The source continued, “Katy and Russell still talk to one another, and that was another thing that irked John. He’s never been in a relationship where he wasn’t the main focus all the time and it bothered him.”
That’s such a shame and we only wish the best for the two. Breakups are hard enough without all the drama! What do you guys think? Tell us in the comments section below and check out this video Shadow Days by John here.
Katy Perry has reportedly signed a $2 million book deal to write an autobiography titled, wait for it, Part Of Me. Like the song. And the movie. What can I say, it’s an excellent title for apparently everything.
Perry will reportedly be telling all in the upcoming book, including details on her divorce from Russell Brand and her new relationship with John Mayer. So ya, I’m willing to fork over forty big ones to get this baby in hard cover. I hope Costco carries it.
A source told The Sun in the UK that Katy is anxious to release her book in time with Brand’s next release in his Booky Wook series, hoping to show her side of the break up. Says the source, “Several publishers have been after Katy for a while. She decided to go ahead so fans don’t have a one-sided story when Russell publishes another Booky Wook.” I’ve never really thought of the two sharing a fan base, but I get the idea.
Although John Mayer owns bachelor pads in Montana and Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, he has scheduled meetings with estate agents so he and Katy, 28, can get their own place together. A source told People magazine, “He always insisted he needed his own place to make music but clearly that’s changed. Now he mostly hangs out at Katy’s place in LA.” While the duo were initially reluctant to go public with their relationship, they are now serious and want the world to know. The insider added, “They’ve both acted very private about their relationship in the past but they seem comfortable about going public with their relationship now. They seem very happy.”
John is so serious about Katy he is even rumoured to be planning to pop the question after just six months of dating. A friend of the musician said, “John really likes the fact that Katy is so independent and not needy and clingy like the other girls he’s dated. This is the first time John’s felt so strongly about a girl. She’s played her cards perfectly.” The source continued, “They really do bring out the best in each other. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he proposed.”

While this article contains the biggest turn-off terms and is likely completely false, I’m pulling Jaty and hope they end up together. Sources are reporting that 35-year-old John Mayer is planning on proposing to Katy Perry, with a ‘friend’ saying “John really likes the fact that Katy is so independent and not needy and clingy like the other girls he’s dated. This is the first time John’s felt so strongly about a girl. She’s played her cards perfectly. They really do bring out the best in each other. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he proposed.” Clingy? Played her cards? Because just being yourself with a person isn’t the way you should set yourself up for marriage? This friend is the worst.
Sources also say 28-year-old Katy, whose divorce from Russell Brand was finalised last July, is ready to settle down and is even thinking about having children with John. A source revealed to more! magazine “John has given her the confidence to jump out of the rat race. With John, she feels like herself. She wants to nest. She’s gained a few pounds, is taking a much-needed break from work and perhaps is even getting her mind and body ready for pregnancy.” Okay, this source I like. Go Jaty!
