Jennifer Lawrence thanks MTV for giving her a start in acting

Every actor has to start somewhere and for Jennifer Lawrence, her start in acting came with Hilary Duff’s vocals blaring over top of her debut. While accepting her first SAG award last night for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer began her speech by thanking MTV.

Lawrence quickly explained the mention of the Music network, saying that she received her membership to the Screen Actors Guild after booking her first professional acting job in a commercial for My Super Sweet 16. And now we have the promo! Check out Katniss following the old tune ‘it’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to’.

Jennifer Lawrence beats Meryl, won’t tell us her favourite curse word

Jennifer Lawrence believes she isn’t experienced enough to give advice to other young actors. The Silver Linings Playbook star, who was recently nominated for her second Oscar and also won a Golden Globe Award on Sunday, turned down an offer to appear on the respected Bravo show Inside The Actors Studio with James Lipton because her acting style is unconventional.

The 22-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly “Do you know how much that guy would hate me? ‘Tell me about your method?’ There is no method! I never know my lines! He would be horrified. I love that show but I’m not old enough. I’m not at a place yet where I can look back and think ‘Oh this how I….’ I’m not ready. And, please, I’m an animal.”

Whatever method she’s using is working. Lawrence is making the rounds on the late night show circuit following her win at the Globes on Sunday and appeared on David Letterman’s show last night, clarifying her most recent acceptance speech. Controversy erupted after many viewers believed Jennifer was slamming her fellow nominee Meryl Streep when Lawrence told the audience upon accepting the award on stage “I beat Meryl!”.

The line is actually from the film The First Wives Club and is used by Bette Midler’s character when she pretends to accept a Golden Globe. And AS IF any actress would be silly enough to make fun of Streep in Hollywood. They excommunicate you for that kind of stuff down there.

Jennifer Lawrence explains how she stays level-headed in Hollywood

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for her performance in Winter’s Bone, has zero time for self-obsessed celebrities and has admitted she believes acting is “stupid”. The 22-year-old newly brunette beauty told the February issue of Vanity Fair magazine “Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.”

But despite being underwhelmed by life in Hollywood, the actress admitted that she does sometimes still get starstruck, saying “Once I’m obsessed with somebody, I’m terrified of them instantly. I’m not scared of them – I’m scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep.”

The Hunger Games star previously revealed her New Year’s resolution is to stand up for herself more. Lawrence explained “My New Year’s Resolution is to stand up for myself. It’s hard for me. Nobody wants to be disliked. You always want to be polite and be nice. I tried to find a balance in saying what I mean and still being nice. I can’t do it. I have this ‘okay’ attitude and everything. I end up allowing myself to get walked over and resenting it.”

Jennifer Lawrence has been voted the world’s most desirable woman

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has been awarded the title Most Desirable Woman a new international poll released today by online men’s magazine AskMen.com after winning over the majority of the 2.4 million voters with her down-to-earth attitude. Editor-In Chief James Bassil said “Overall, there’s a sense that she’s a little more authentic than other actors. She’s fresh because we haven’t seen her all over the gossip pages for the past three or four years.”

The blonde beauty was followed in the top five by actress Mila Kunis, model Kate Upton, Rihanna and actress Emma Stone. Last year’s winner Sofia Vergara made 12th place in this year’s poll. Other well known names to make the list included a number of beauties over the age of 40, including US First Lady Michelle Obama, 48, comedian Sarah Silverman, 42, and British actress Rachel Weisz, 42.

Jennifer has been dating British actor Nicholas Hoult, 22, since they met on the set of 2011′s X-Men: First Class and says she doesn’t want them to become a celebrity couple. Jennifer previously stated “You don’t want your relationship to be in the press, but at the same time – and this is only a theory – the more you try and keep it secret, the more the media tries to crack it open. Maybe there’s less pressure if you admit you are dating. Admitting that is just an experiment. I’m going to see how it goes.”

Jennifer Lawrence is worried her mother will get her kicked out of the Oscars

Jennifer Lawrence may have become a blockbuster actress as a result of her roles in The Hunger Games and The Silver Linings Playbook, but she’s also a girl who still lives at home with her parents. During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Lawrence told the talk show host that she is is concerned she will be removed from the group who decides the Oscar winners every year after her mom Karen stole her ballot as a joke while she was in the UK, and she is now worried she will not be allowed to vote again.

She said “I get a call from my mother while I was in England and she goes, ‘I did something hilarious’. And I’m thinking, ‘What?’ And she’s like, ‘I voted’. And I was like, ‘You voted for what?’ ‘The Oscars.’ And I was like, ‘You voted for the Oscars, what do you mean?’ And she goes, ‘The ballot came here and I voted!’ Because she thought I’d be, like, ‘That’s hilarious.’ Fortunately, she did it wrong and mailed it back to herself, so I got to do it again.”

Laughing, Jennifer exclaimed “I’m going to get kicked out of the Academy!” Jennifer admits her mother is a fun-loving person and is always finding ways of having a good time. “Oh she’s very happy. She has more fun than I do.”

Jennifer’s latest film The Silver Linings Playbook, which also stars Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, opens today.
