The Great Gatsby will be in theatres soon – May 10th, to be exact – but we’ve been getting steady doses of original music from the star-studded soundtrack. Today, we get to hear British singer Emeli Sande and Bryan Ferry Orchestra take on Beyonce’s first hit single, “Crazy In Love”.
Redone with a 20s flare, complete with horns, the song is completely transformed to fit the era of the film. A quick snippet of this immediately conjures up images of women in flapper dresses dancing the night away. Just proves that a) Emeli Sande and Bryan Ferry Orchestra pulled off a great cover and b) Beyonce songs sound great in any form and context because she is perfect.
The Great Gatsby soundtrack will be available digitally and on vinyl (being released through Jack White’s Third Man Records) on May 7th.

UK singers Labrinth and Emeli Sande have teamed up to create the emotional ballad Beneath Your Beautiful. As part of Labrinth’s debut album Electronic Earth, the song was written by Labrinth and Sande and Cooler Than You singer Mike Posner.
The video for the track features the two singers taking turns performing in front of a green screen. It’s a simple visual piece to accompany the track, but Beneath Your Beautiful is an inspiring love song that requires little selling.

It’s difficult to believe that Emeli Sande ever had trouble getting a record deal. The talented UK singer left her profession in medicine to release her debut album Our Version of Events and quickly became a music industry darling, winning countless awards like the 2012 Brit Award for Critic’s Choice. Sande’s latest video for her song Clown is a dramatic reenactment of her trials with record labels at the start of her career.
Emeli posted a description of for new video on her Vevo page, saying “It’s about how I felt when I was trying to get signed, I was going for all these meetings and people were looking at me like ‘What do we do with you’? It’s about not allowing yourself to be judged by others or to be taken for an idiot. I feel the video reflects that”.
Don’t miss Emeli, along with One Direction, Mumford and Sons, Taylor Swift, Muse, Robbie Williams and Ben Howard when they perform at the 2013 Brit Awards on Wednesday, February 20 at 10E/7P on MUCH.

UK singer Emeli Sande is stunned by the huge professional success she has enjoyed this year and thinks it is “weird” that people had never heard of her just 12 months ago. She said “It’s weird to think this time last year no one knew who I was. I’ve since had a number one album, two number one singles and performed in front of the world at the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies.”
And it’s not only in her professional life that has made Emeli enjoy this year. Sande married long-term boyfriend Adam Gouraguine in August. She added “Getting married was a highlight too, of course. It was the perfect day.”
Emeli recently admitted she was very nervous ahead of her performance at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, saying “My highlight of the year was stepping out to sing Abide With Me at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. That was a huge moment. And the most nerve wracking of my life, not just the year. Partly because at the dress rehearsal, in front of 16,000 people, my mic wasn’t working. However, I felt very calm when I stepped out. You can’t really see people, you can only see lights. Everybody went very quiet. It was like being underwater. “
