Alicia Keys is picking up the tempo and dropping some big beats in her latest single New Day. Keys steps into the pop genre with a heavy bass influenced song, a departure from her usual ballads, which most recently have included Girl On Fire and Brand New Me from her latest disc.
Evident after a few seconds of listening to the track, New Day was produced by Keys’ husband and hitmaker Swizz Beatz. Keys wrote the track along with her hubby and rap legend Dr. Dre. Easily Keys most upbeat single in years, the song is matched by a high energy music video.
The video splits its time between two settings, the first including footage of Alicia looking happy and confident while performing New Day in concert. The second scene shows Alicia in a gold tube top and black leggings singing in an alleyway while a group of male dancers perform a routine of tight choreography around her.

Alicia Keys has released the second single from her 2012 album Girl On Fire with the self-affirming ballad Brand New Me. The music video is simple in concept, with Alicia beginning the song seated at a piano, while shrugging off the advances of her video director. Keys shows that she is a ‘brand new person’ both with her lyrics and by literally peeling off her layers physically, throwing off her wig in the middle of the performance and crying.

Alicia Keys thinks her two-year-old son is a little diva. The Girl On Fire singer is already predicting her two-year-old son Egypt, whose father is music producer Swizz Beatz, will be a huge “pain in the ass” when he’s older and says he loves being the centre of attention and showcasing his vocal skills whenever possible.
Alicia laughed “He’s definitely going to be a pain in the ass! I don’t know where he gets it from but he’s a little boy on fire. Egypt loves to sing and perform already. He sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which is the cutest thing as he only knows half the words.”
The 31-year-old R&B superstar, who has been married to Swizz for over two years, also revealed the tiny tot stole the show at a recent gig and was milking his time in the limelight standing at the side of the stage while she performed. In an interview in The Sun newspaper, Alicia recounted “I did my very first show back recently and Egypt was on the side of the stage with his daddy. All the crowd were cheering and applauding and I was like, ‘Wow, they’re really into it!’ Then I walked off stage for my break and they were still cheering. I looked behind to see Egypt blowing kisses and waving to the crowd. And I smiled and said to myself, ‘That’s my boy. Go get ‘em.’ ”
