When I first was pitched this album to do a First Spin on, I thought to myself, “who is this Misstress Barbara person?” and then I listened to the first 5 seconds of the song “I’m Runnin’ feat. Sam Roberts“ and was like: Holy freakin’ *&(*$#@ – this is amazing!!! Since then I think my iTunes play count is around 45 and I have barely touched the other tracks. That being said – I have listened to the other tracks on I’m No Human and they are all just as great!
So who is this Misstress? Well she’s an internationally renowned DJ who as spun in some of the best clubs around the world. She has won numerous awards and has worked alongside some of the best DJs in the world. Oh and best of all – she’s Canadian!
Her background is in electronic music production but this album has her singing for the first time and writing as well. The album features contributions from Sam Roberts, Brazilian Girls and Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John.
I highly recommend you give this album a listen. Sit back and listen to it while making dinner this weekend or before heading out on the town. The chill beats and sexy vocals will surely put you in the right mood for anything you may find yourself up to…
