It was an era when pop met grunge, when Whitney Houston was number one on the charts and within a month would be surpassed by newcomers Nirvana. Bands like Aerosmith, U2, Tom Petty and Van Halen held strong against emerging bands like Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The pre-diva decade of pop saw hot music videos from Madonna, Janet Jackson, the Spice Girls, Jewel and Alanis Morissette. While relative one-hit wonders released music videos that you may sometimes want to forget, remember Snow, 4 Non Blondes, Counting Crows, Moxy Fruvous, Alannah Miles, Dee-Lite, Chris Isaak, Spirit of the West and even Gerardo (need some help here? His single was called ‘Rico Suave’).
The 90s continues to be one of the best decades of the music videos as the medium matured from its birth in the 80s into a true artist form and a proven means to build a fan base for their albums and concerts.
