Matt Wells has mastered the ins and outs of the music industry as an interviewer, performer, songwriter, and video director. As the face of the newly attitudinally adjusted, MuchMore, Matt brings a mixture of East Coast chivalry and sociability with a quiet charm that disarms musicians and celebs alike.
Matt’s distinct perspective as a musician helps him connect with his interview subjects. Formerly the singer of the hardcore metal band Bucket Truck, Matt has performed for crowds of 30,000 and has interviewed some of his idols. He’s spoken with Slayer then jumped on stage to open for them, recorded a song with Huey Lewis, and performed with Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony.
When he’s not interviewing artists, Matt is hosting MuchMoreOriginal programs THE DAILY FIX and WHERE YOU AT BABY? In THE DAILY FIX, Matt breaks down everything on the cutting edge of cool – music, movies, celebrity gossip, gadgets, and more. In WHERE YOU AT BABY? Matt finds the most popular musicians of the ’80s and ’90s and enters their world. He jams with Huey Lewis at his Montana ranch, house hunts with Tiffany in Nashville, and watches Ice T vote for the very first time in New Jersey.
Born and bred in Newfoundland, Matt got his start in the broadcasting world as host/videographer in Halifax on MuchMusic’s GOING COASTAL. There, he exposed fans to artists like Hot Hot Heat, Wintersleep, Matt Mays, and Feist before they were thrust into mainstream consciousness. Helping to cultivating independent artists, especially on the East Coast, is of personal importance to Matt.
Matt has earned rave reviews from artists for his insightful, well-researched approach. He’s interviewed the likes of Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Gene Simmons, The Police, Rob Halford, Mötley Crue, Daniel Lanois, Tom Morello, Chris Cornell, Ben Kingsley, Guy Ritchie, Benicio Del Toro, John Cusack, Andy Samberg, and Matt Damon. He also tackled the notoriously challenging Lou Reed who said his interview with Matt was one of his best ever.
