Listened to the new U2 album again. And a 3rd time to make sure.
People tell me it’s a creeper. I’m still waiting.
I think I just don’t buy Bonos steez anymore.
I used to big time. The part of me that wants to pin my black jeans is still singing “I… I’LL BE WITH YOU AGAINNNN….” I miss the old U2. Or maybe I miss the old me that used to be into U2. The old me that was rooting for a band that used rock n roll as a weapon for mass education. It’s hard to root for a band that is just fighting for relevancy. Before they were fighting for country, fighting to be heard, fighting to change the world. But, now Ireland is at peace, U2 is a money making machine, and I just feel like Bono is preaching at me, not singing to me anymore. Despite all this, it doesn’t mean that i’m not gonna try and find a ticket to their concert when it rolls into town. Because, eventhough they will be peddling their new tunes, they will be singing the hits. And there’s no better concert experience than U2. And maybe it’s seeing these new songs live that i’ll finally ‘get’ what the boys, plus Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno have been working on. Cuz really…anyone can hit the studio and record a record for hack bloggers like me to comment on. But it’s only the great bands that can truly rock the live show and make the jaded masses sing along.
