This week in music history 1976, Bruce Springsteen climbed the wall of Graceland to meet Elvis Presley. This story is hilarious and very very true; just after Bruce’s initial rise to fame when he was on the road supporting the Born to Run album, he had just played a gig in Memphis and decided to get a cab to Graceland. When he got there he noticed a light on so he thought “what the hell”, jumped the fence and tried to knock on the door… just as he was about to knock, security intercepted him so Bruce calmly asked “is Elvis home” ….Elvis was not home. The guards didn’t recognize or care who Springsteen was as he casually mentioned he was just on the cover of Time and Newsweek and politely showed him to the curb. Amazing!
