American movies just have not been the same since that badass Cold War Era Soviet Union red flag with a star, hammer and sickle was replaced. The soviets scared everyone in the 70’s and 80’s except Elton John. This week in music history 1975 – Elton John became the first Western pop star to play in the former U.S.S.R. and now almost 35 years later he’s best friends with Eminem and he’s on tour with Billy Joel singing the Beatles classic “Back in the USSR”. I bet he could have kicked Ivan Drago’s ass in rocky 4 too.
