The Age of Musical Enlightenment
Pete Townshend of the Who wrote “I hope I die before I get old”, but that famous rock and roll lyric had no affect on this summer’s tour schedule filled with artists who have reached the age of musical enlightenment. Robert Plant is 60 and will be on the road with Alison Krauss; The 62-year-old Elton John and the 60-year-old Billy Joel are on tour together. Also still on the road: Willie Nelson is 76, Leonard Cohen is 74, Paul McCartney is 67 and representing the musical youth movement is Elvis Costello at the spring chicken age of 54.
