Peter, Bjorn and John: Video Review

Ok, so I think I just saw my favorite video of the year.

You see, I love music videos. Sometimes a song just doesn’t feel like a song without something for me to look at. There is tons of shit out there, let’s not be mistaken, but every once in a while, there comes a music video that restores my faith in a medium that is 80 percent a wankfest. This is an example of when the video that makes the song soooo much better. Upon first listen…sure…the song is cool. The hipsters will dig it. I see people wearing their ‘new’ vintage clothes… ironically doing the twist in sweaty basement jams to it. Kids singing the hook is a good look. BUT without this video, I’m pretty enh about the song.

Old school Japanese dudes, in pure 1940s American biker/rocker regalia (think the Fonze breeding with The Iron Chef), ciphering in funny pseudo b-boy circles is exactly my taste. (**I’m guessing these guys are too cool to listen to Peter Bjorn and John). Anyways, the video is simple. Cool shots of them dancing, walking down stairs, giving stone cold looks to the camera. I looked up the directors…and of course…artsy skinny white dudes who probably exoticize the Japanese guys as much as I am in this blog.

Here’s the YouTube for you to peep.
