MAN ON WIRE is not to be confused with BIRD ON A WIRE, the Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson CLASSIC, but the Academy Award winning documentary film about wirewalker Philippe Petit (who balanced the Oscar on his chin at the ceremony) who magnificantly walked between the two World Trade Centre towers.
The french are their own brand of crazy. Not at all a bad thing, but there’s a certain swag to french bravado…to french crazy. But that is what makes it so good, so exhilarating, so bomb a le max. And this movie is all that est un bague des frites.
Talking heads, re-enactments, french accents, and vertigo inducing wirewalking. By the end of the film the french are crying, I’m crying, and I’m eating my emotions in the form of a baguette.
