This is election technology we could have used before George W snuck his way in the back door in 2001 and almost ended the world… but better late than never. The first U.S. digital vote by way of Internet and by touch tone phone was introduced recently for a Honolulu neighborhood board election. The good news is it saved about $230, 000 dollars and that 84 perecent of the 7300 people who actually voted did so – online. The bad news is there were about 100, 000 eligible voters who didn’t even vote. Back to the digital drawing board.
