The TWILIGHT and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN review.
For those of you who don’t have a 13 year old daughter/niece/sister, then maybe you haven’t rented/downloaded/puchased the sensation that is TWILIGHT. I understand why this would be a big film with the kids, outsider girl…gets the hot outsider boy…and they are outsiders together. Throw in a hot soundtrack (I actually really liked the music, props to the soundtrack supervisor…a job I’ve always wanted), hot actors moping around and looking ‘dangerous’, and a rabid following of book readers (yes, this is a movie adaptation of a literary smash, once found in the young readers isle, now in the top ten shelf), and you got a hit. GOTH IS BACK MY FRIENDS. Twilight is this generations Lost Boys…and for you THREENAGERS out there…Lost Boys was the ish. Anyways, Twilight is ok…but probably more ok for those still in the throws of teenaged angst. If you really want to see the bomb diggidy of modern vampire love affairs…please…please check out the uber cool, uber amazing Scandanavian vampire flick LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. This is the best thing to come out of Sweden since ABBA, and the great redeemer of Swedish culture since Mama Mia has signalled the end of the world. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is a star crossed vampire lover film done right. Mood..tone…music….shots. Ok, I take back the ‘OK’ review of TWILIGHT in the ‘light’ of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. Compared to LET THE RIGHT ONE IN…TWILIGHT bites.
